TAMPA, Fla., Nov 2, 2018 –USF men's soccer defeated American Athletic Conference opponent Memphis in a midday matchup 2-0 on Senior Day at Corbett Stadium in the regular season finale.
USF's
Emilio Ycaza (St. Petersburg, Fla.) converted on a corner kick from
Alex Zis (Oakville, Canada) for the game-winner in the 19
thminute for his second career goal. The Bulls' insurance goal came in the 89
thminute from
Felipe Baptista (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), with an assist from senior
Tomasz Skublak (Hamilton, Canada). Baptista slotted in a left-footed shot to seal the Bulls' regular season victory.
Harrison Devenish-Meares played in goal for the Bulls for the full 90 minutes, recording his second shutout of the season with one save on the day. USF had 20 shots on the day while Memphis tallied 11. The Bulls had eight shots on goal on the night and saw four Bulls score conference points.
Seniors
Tomasz Skublak and
Raul Guinea were honored before the match, and the Bulls delivered with the victory highlighted by Skublak's assist to get on the board on senior day.
The Bulls have already qualified for the American Athletic Conference Tournament, but the seedings will not be finalized until AAC regular season play concludes this evening. USF could finish anywhere from first to fourth place depending on the remaining conference matches.
