TAMPA, NOVEMBER 20, 2018 – The USF volleyball team heads east on I-4 for the regular season finale at No. 21 UCF Wednesday night.

The Bulls (20-10, 9-8 The American) secured the programs first 20-win season since 2002 with a straight-sets victory at Houston on Nov. 16. Sophomore middle blocker Jaeden Brown (Hollywood, Fla.) was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll on Monday following a weekend in which she averaged 2.29 blocks per set and earned a double-double of 12 kills and 10 blocks against SMU on Sunday.

USF enters Wednesday in the top-100 RPI and in position to earn a postseason trip to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. The Knights are ranked No. 21 with an RPI of No. 10, giving the Bulls a chance to elevate their position. The complete field will be announced this Sunday, Nov. 25.

The Bulls nearly delivered the Knights what would have been their only loss during league action back on Sept. 21. USF held a 2-1 lead, but ultimately fell in a five-set clash (25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 23-25, 10-15). Junior Jac'cara Walker (Gainesville, Fla.) tallied 21 kills and 10 digs in that match. Redshirt senior Clara Payne (Osteen, Fla.) had 12 kills and Brown had 10 kills with six blocks. The trio hit better than .330 in the contest.

Nota-Bulls
  • Freshman setter Lauren LaBeck (Chicago) has appeared in all but three sets over the last eight matches. She has 259 assists, averaging 8.93 per set with three double-doubles.
  • USF is second in The American with 1,982 digs.
  • The Bulls are 7-2 in three-set matches this season and have also won seven five-set matches.
  • Walker leads the team with 361 kills and 13 double-doubles.

About USF Volleyball
Now in her seventh season with the Bulls, head coach Courtney Draper has her team at 19-9, just one win shy what would be the most in her time at USF. Redshirt senior middle blocker Clara Payne became the seventh player in program history to reach 400 career blocks earlier this season. Sophomore Jaeden Brown is second in The American in total blocks and leads USF with a hitting percentage above .300. Junior transfer Jac'cara Walker has led USF in kills all season long and recorded her 1000th career kill earlier in the year.
