Bulls Ink Auburn Transfer Randall Ceneus

TAMPA, Dec. 6, 2018 USF track and field head coach Warren Bye announced Thursday that sprinter Randall Ceneus has joined the Bulls and is eligible to compete immediately.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Ceneus spent the last four seasons at Auburn and will compete as a graduate student this season for USF. Ceneus was a 2018 USTFCAA Indoor First Team All-American and 2017 Outdoor First Team All-American in the 4x400 meter relay. He was also tabbed a 2017 Outdoor Second Team All-American in the 400 meters and a 2017 Outdoor Second Team All-SEC performer in the 4x400 meter relay.

He ran a personal best time of 21.04 in the 200 meters in 2018 on his way to a 10th-place finish at the 2018 SEC Indoor Championships. Ceneus was also a member of an Auburn 4x400 meter relay that finished fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 3:05.30, the second fastest time in school history. 

"Randall will make a huge impact in our program this season, and we're excited to have him on board," Bye said. "We expect him to be a major contributor in the 200 meters, 400 meters and 4x400 meter relay."

Ceneus finished 13th overall at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 45.82. He also boasts an indoor personal best time of 46.41 in the 400 meters and an outdoor personal best time of 20.85 in the 200 meters.

Ceneus attended Oak Mountain High School in Birmingham and won the 400 meters at the 6A AHSAA Indoor State Championships. He also took fifth place in the 400 meters at the 2014 New Balance Indoor Nationals and finished second in the 400 meters at the 6A AHSAA state meet with a personal best time of 48.33

USF begins its season Jan. 18-19 when the Bulls travel to Columbia, S.C., to compete at the Gamecock Inaugural hosted by the University of South Carolina.
