CLEARWATER, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2018) – USF fought from a 2-0 deficit in the fifth inning to lead Mizzou, 3-2, but fell in extra innings during the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Invitational finale.

Three straight triples put the Tigers on the board, and a homer to right field gave them a 2-0 advantage. USF rallied in the fifth inning scoring three runs on five hits, all with two outs, and went one shy of batting through the order. Missouri was able to limit the damage and end the top of the fifth with USF leading, 3-2.

The Tigers would see three pitchers in the bottom of the fifth frame, and freshman Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) forced the end of the inning with a strikeout swinging. Mizzou scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth to tie it up, and both teams held through the end of regulation play.

USF was able to move senior Astin Donovan (Guilford, Conn.) to third in the eighth inning, but it was the Tigers who came out victorious with a pair of singles moving their runner home for a walk-off win.
