B Division Shines at Navy Women’s Spring Regatta
March 12, 2018 | Women's Sailing
TAMPA, MARCH 12, 2018 – The University of South Florida sailing team had a great showing from a couple newcomers, as the program finished 12th overall at the Navy Women's Spring Regatta over the weekend.
The Bulls were one of 20 teams competing in Annapolis, Md., this weekend. The College of Charleston took home first place, followed by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, University of Rhode Island, Hobart and George Washington.
NOTA-BULLS
Head coach Allison Jolly on the conditions on the water:
"Conditions were tricky, with extremely shifty light to moderate winds. The key to success was being able to come back from a poor starting position, not getting flustered, and being patient, waiting for the next wind shift to come."
Head coach Allison Jolly on Marina's strong showing:
"Marina excelled in the conditions, her first time racing at Navy in Annapolis. She lost only to Paris Henken from College of Charleston, a USA Olympian at the 2016 games in Rio."
Head coach Allison Jolly on Katie and Rachel's impact on Marina both days:
"Both provided the demanding teamwork and boat handling needed to help the boat go fast, complementing Marina's tactical performance."

The Bulls have a weekend off and return to action in two weeks at the Duplin Women's Team Race in Medford, Mass.
