Bulls Travel to Medford, Mass. For Duplin Women’s Team Race
March 23, 2018 | Women's Sailing
TAMPA, MARCH 23, 2018 – The University of South Florida sailing team heads to Medford, Mass., to compete in the Duplin Women's Team Race hosted by Tufts University Saturday and Sunday.
Freshman Marina Barzaghi (Saunderstown, R.I.) and classmate Katie Bornarth (Jensen Beach, Fla.) along with junior Rachel Yannelli (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) were stellar at Navy two weeks ago. The trio finished second in the B division and had the fifth-best score overall.
The team race will feature a 3-on-3 format with the top three skipper-crew combos from each school competing in several round robin formats. The teams are ranked at the end based on their win-loss records.
NOTA-BULLS
Head coach Allison Jolly on the expectations for the weekend:
"Tufts is always tricky. It's on a very small lake with shifty winds, and the boats are neither FJ nor 420, the two boats we use. So it will be very challenging. Finally, every team attending is nationally ranked, so the competition will be strong."
