Bulls Will Close USF Series with Spring Break Classic
TAMPA (March 15, 2018) – The USF Softball team (17-12) will cap off tournament play with the Spring Break Classic, the final tournament of the USF series.
The Bulls extended their win streak to 10 games on Wednesday night with a 5-0 shutout over Maine. USF continues to dominate offensively and has outscored opponents 74-16 in the last 10 games. The Bulls have hit one or more home runs in seven of the last nine games, and
junior
Mia Fung is up to five home runs this season with 18 RBI.
Lindsey Devitt is right behind with four home runs, and an impressive 26 RBI this season.
Bulls fans at the USF-Lehigh game can stop by the marketing table and receive a tournament wristband to present at the concession stand for $2 hotdogs all day Friday and Sunday.
Scouting the Opponent
Lehigh (3-12) // Friday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. // Tampa
The Mountain Hawks have spent most of their season in the sunshine state and are on a 10-game stretch in the Tampa Bay area. Lehigh has picked up one win in each of the three tournaments it has participated in this season, including wins over Savannah State, Yale and Central Connecticut State.
This week the Mountain Hawks took on Butler and Quinnipiac in a midweek doubleheader. They took Butler to extra innings, but fell, 5-4, and lost to Quinnipiac, 4-2. USF last met Lehigh in 2016 at the USF Softball Stadium and won, 13-2 (5 inn.). The Bulls lead the series, 2-1, dating back to 2009.

Elon (13-9) - Friday, March 16 at 4:15 p.m. // Tampa
The Phoenix have enjoyed 15 games on their home field but will spend five games in the Tampa Bay area during the Spring Break Classic. The Bulls last saw Elon at home in 2004 and lead the series, 4-0, dating back to 1999.
This week Elon hosted three games including a doubleheader against UNCG, and a midweek against Syracuse. The Pheonix split the doubleheader against UNCG, and fell, 4-2, to Syracuse.

St. Joseph's (8-7) – Saturday, March 17 at 2:30 p.m. // Clearwater
The Hawks played five games in Clearwater, Fla. in the Under Armour Showcase last week, and went 2-3 with wins over Central Michigan (5-4, 9 inn.) and Robert Morris (1-0). The Hawks will take on Florida A&M, FGCU and Butler before a 2:30 matchup with the Bulls on Saturday.
The Bulls lead the all-time series over St. Josephs, 4-0, dating back to 2008. The teams met last spring and went to 11 innings at the USF Softball Stadium before the Bulls won, 11-9.
Princeton (0-10) - Saturday, March 17 at 4:45 p.m. // Clearwater
The Tigers have competed in two tournaments to kick off the season. Princeton is headed to Clearwater, Fla., in search of its first win, and will play Florida A&M to open their run in the Spring Break Classic.
USF and Princeton haven't met since 2007 when the Bulls and Tigers competed in a doubleheader at the USF Softball Stadium. The Bulls split the day with a 5-0 win in the first game and a 3-1 loss in the second. USF leads the all-time series, 3-2.
UNF (13-13) – Sunday, March 18 at 4:00 p.m. // Tampa
The Ospreys have played a tough schedule leading into the USF Series. UNF has faced three opponents ranked in the NFCA/USA Today Top 25, and two receiving votes. The Ospreys Played two close games against No. 15 Louisiana, including a 1-0 shutout in their second go-around.
Despite their close proximity, the Bulls and the Ospreys have met just twice in program history. USF has claimed both games with a 5-1 win in 2009, and a 12-1 (5 inn.) victory in 2016.
