Bulls Get Three Top Three Finishes on Final Day in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla., MARCH 17, 2018 – The USF track and field team wrapped up the UCF Black and Gold Challenge on Saturday with two top-three finishes and three marks on the USF outdoor top-10 charts.

Senior Kaytlyn Gill (Charlotte, N.C) had the day's top performance, finishing second in the women's long jump with a mark of 19-1.50. The outing ties her for seventh all-time on the USF outdoor charts.

Freshman Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.) also placed second in her event, posting a 5-6.00 in the high jump. The mark is Carmouche's second-best of her collegiate career. She had a mark of 5-7.00 in Akron during the indoor season.

The USF relay team of Shenica Bazile, Chelsea Francis, Destiny Fairley and Jada Massie took third in the 4x100, running a time of 44.96 seconds. That time is the second-best ever in USF outdoor history and less than six-tenths of a second shy of the school record.

After the two-day event in Orlando, the Bulls return to Tampa with an event victory, five total top-three finishes, and five new marks on the USF outdoor top-10 lists. Read about the day one performances HERE.

Other Notable Performances
  • SHOT PUT: Zach Diaczynsky (Naples, Fla.) impressed in the shot put, finishing with a mark of 54-9.50, which is the third-best in USF history. Diaczynsky placed sixth overall in the event.
  • 100 METERS: Junior Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.) took fourth in the women's 100 meters with a time of 11.88 seconds.
  • 800 METERS: Junior Cash Tampa (St. Johns, Fla.) placed sixth in the men's 800 meters, finishing with a time of 1:57.09.
  • LONG JUMP: Freshman Kaitlyn Kirby (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) finished seventh out of 32 athletes in the women's long jump, posting a mark of 18-2.50 in her first outdoor meet at USF.
Up Next
The Bulls will return to Tampa for their only home meet of the season, the USF Invitational. The event is Thursday and Friday at the USF Track and Field Stadium on campus.
