Bulls Get 30th Win with a Pair of Home Runs at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (April 13, 2018) – A pair of home runs by juniors Mia Fung and Lindsey Devitt powered USF to a 3-1 win over Tulsa on Friday night.

The juniors shined for USF (30-15, 8-2) in its first game of the series against Tulsa (25-16, 5-5). Of USF's eight hits, six came from the junior class. In the top of the third inning, Macy Cook (Uniontown, Ohio) struck USF's first hit of the game with a double to right center, and Fung (Tampa) sent a 2-run home run deep over the left field fence. In the fourth inning Devitt, (Jacksonville, Fla.) sent a solo shot over the fence to add to the Bull's lead.

Freshman Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) held the Golden Hurricane scoreless for four full innings and threw four strikeouts to earn her 12th win of the season.

Quotable
Head coach Ken Eriksen on the team's performance…
"I think they did well. I mean, they had some real good battles and some really good two-strike at bats which was evident with the two-strike home run by Fung, and the two-strike home run by Devitt. I thought that Macy Cook set the tone early by getting in the box and challenging Watson pretty good. When your pitcher is throwing the ball well like Georgina did well tonight, it gives the hitters an opportunity to get comfortable and I thought that was key."

Head coach Ken Erikson on Corrick's performance…
"For going on the road, first time at Tulsa against a really good team, that battled hard, I thought Georgina did really well. Any time you can go on the road win the first game of the series, you give your team some really good confidence."
