TULSA, Okla. (April 15, 2018) – The Bulls held the Golden Hurricane scoreless until a three-run sixth inning resulted in a USF loss, 3-1.
With two outs in the first inning, USF (31-16, 9-3) junior
Macy Cook (Uniontown, Ohio) hit a double down the third base line. Senior
Amber Atkinson (Citrus, Fla.) hit a single to left field that scored Cook to give the Bulls an early 1-0 lead.
Junior
Cheyenne Eggens' impressive pitching kept Tulsa at bay through 4.2 innings. The right-hander didn't walk a single batter and retired 14 straight.
The Golden Hurricane (26-17, 6-6) had a late surge when they loaded the bases with a triple and a pair of walks in the sixth inning. A deep single batted in two, followed by a single that scored one more.
