TAMPA (April 12, 2018) – The USF softball team remains at the top of The American standings for the fifth straight week and will head to ECU in search of its fifth series win.
 
This will be the Bulls' second consecutive week on the road after a series at Tulsa last weekend. USF took two of three from the Golden Hurricane with wins on Friday and Saturday. The Bulls fought through bitter cold, and an impressive pitching staff for a 3-1 win on Friday and an 8-6 victory on Saturday before falling, 3-1, on Sunday.
 
The Bulls remain the only team in the conference to win every series they have played in The American this season.
 
Scouting the Opponent
ECU is seventh in the league standings with a series win over UConn in the program's first-ever sweep in The American. Tyler King leads the Pirates at the plate, batting .297 with 43 hits and 24 runs. Time in the circle is split between Whitney Sanford (8-10) and Erin Poepping (9-10). Sanford has a 3.43 ERA and Poepping has a 3.67 ERA.
 
USF leads the series against the Pirates, 20-9. The Bulls are on a seven-game win streak against ECU, and the teams last met in Tampa for a three-game series, April 7-9, 2017.
