USF’s 2018-19 Signing Class Is Loaded With Talent

TAMPA, MAY 31, 2018 – USF track and field has bolstered its roster in a big way for next season.
Head coach
Warren Bye has announced the Bulls' new nine-member signing class that features a two-time NJCAA champion and five state title winners, including Florida's new high school record-holder in the pole vault.
Most recently, USF signed multi-event standout Adriana Janic, state champions Stone Baker (pole vault), Karen Lyvers (pole vault) and indoor All-American Kristin Lubeskie (pole vault) along with Arielle Boone (triple jump) and Shaneylix Davila (multi events).
Those six new Bulls complete the star-studded signing class that started to take shape in November with the additions of state champions Melvin Briley (triple jump), Danny Ferro (800m) and Hunter Hummel (discus).

Adriana Janic

The sophomore from Malmo, Sweden became a three-time NJCAA Indoor All-American this March after winning the 60-meter hurdles (8.33 seconds) and pentathlon (3,751 points) at the NJCAA Championship.
Janic's other personal bests include a high jump mark of 5-9.25, a long jump distance of 19-4.75 and a time of 13.58 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Janic spent her first two collegiate seasons at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.
Stone Baker

The incoming freshman from River Ridge High School in New Port Richey recently set the new Florida state prep record in the pole vault with a mark of 16-8.25 that won him the Class 3A title earlier this month.
Karen Lyvers

The incoming freshman from Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, Fla., was named an all-area selection by HTPreps after winning the Class 4A state pole vault title.
Lyvers also won Class 4A-Region 2 titles with a vault of 12-4 and a 100-meter hurdles time of 14.44 seconds. Lyvers' personal best in the 100-meter hurdles is 14.33 seconds.
Kristin Lubeskie

The incoming freshman from Monroe-Woodbury High School in New York became an indoor All-American in the pole vault with a third-place finish at New Balance Nationals.
Also a standout swimmer, Lubeskie's personal best in the pole vault is 12-6.5 and she has an impressive top time of 56.2 seconds in the 400 meters. Lubeskie placed at the state meet in all four years as a prep student-athlete.
Arielle Boone

The incoming freshman from Sunlake High School in Land O'Lakes, Fla., owns a top triple jump mark of 39-10.25 she reached during her event win at the Sunshine Athletic Conference Championships in April.
Boone qualified for the triple jump and high jump events at New Balance Indoor Nationals this March in New York.
Shaneylix Davila

The incoming freshman from Poinciana High School in Kissimmee, Fla., will boost the Bulls in future hurdles events.
Davila owns a personal best time of 14.18 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and a time of 43.28 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. Davila has gained valuable experience competing in eight different events.
Melvin Briley

The incoming freshman from Oakleaf High School in Jacksonville, Fla., recently defended his Class 4A state triple jump title on top of placing fourth in the long jump.
Briley set his personal best triple jump mark of 49-7.00 at the 2017 state meet and reached new heights in the long jump at state this year with a distance of 22-5.25.
Danny Ferro

The incoming freshman from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale has captured consecutive Class 2A state 800-meter titles. Ferro posted a personal best time of 1:52.12 this year after winning with a time of 1:54.07 in 2017.
Ferro also has a top 1,600-meter time of 4:15.09 and will assist the Bulls in middle-distance events next season.
Hunter Hummel

The incoming freshman from Celebration High School in Kissimmee, Fla., recently captured the Class 4A state discus title with a personal best throw of 181-5.00.
Hummel earned runner-up honors at the 2017 state meet with a discus throw of 172-10. Hummel also has a personal best shot put mark of more than 49 feet.

Led by 13th-year head coach Warren Bye, the USF track and field team has produced 22 All-America selections since 2008 and at least one All-American in nine of the last 10 years. 2016 graduate Matthew O'Neal is USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. USF has posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). The Bulls are home to the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary.
