ANN ARBOR, Mich., August 27, 2018–USF men's soccer will take on No. 21 Michigan on Monday night at the U-M Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m., in the second match of a two-game road swing in the Wolverine State for the Bulls.
USF dropped its opening match of the 2018 season to No. 7 Michigan State on Friday night in East Lansing, falling in the final minutes 1-0. It was behind an impressive defensive outing led by freshman
Henrique Gallina and sophomore
Avionne Flanagan that the Bulls held the Spartans to just seven shots on the night.
The Opponent
Michigan also fell in its first contest on Friday night against a future Bulls foe, Tulsa, dropping a 2-1 decision in its home opener. Michigan's Mohammed Zakyi scored the lone Wolverine goal on the night. Michigan returns 11 players who started 10 matches in 2017 and will begin the 2018 season with six straight matches in Ann Arbor.
The Bulls could have their hands full with Wolverine Jack Hallahan who was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and is the leading scorer returning for Michigan, having scored nine goals and seven assists last season.
All-Time Against Michigan
USF is 1-1-2 all-time against the Wolverines, and last saw them in action on Aug. 26, 2016 in a scoreless draw in Tampa.
Notable
- Both Michigan and USF enter the match 0-1 following losses on Friday night to Tulsa and Michiga State, respectively.
- Michigan is the reigning Big Ten Champion and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2017. The Wolverines finished 12-6-2 last season.

The Bulls will head back to Tampa for their home opening weekend when they take on Virginia Tech on Friday Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. and Creighton on Monday Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at Corbett Stadium. Friday night's match will serve as a blackout, with USF debuting their black uniforms for the first time at home, and 500 black shirts being handed out to the first 500 fans at Corbett Stadium.
