Skublak Named Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 10, 2018USF's Tomasz Skublak, senior forward on the men's soccer team, was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. 
 
Skublak scored both USF goals last week, the first coming in a 2-1 home loss to then-No. 20 Creighton, and the second sealed a 1-0 shutout over Ohio State. 
 
The American Offensive Player of the Week scored his first goal on the season in the Bulls' fourth consecutive game against a ranked opponent, a 2-1 loss against Creighton on Sept. 3. He delivered his goal in the 65th minute, beating a defender and drawing out Creighton's goalkeeper before chipping the ball over the keeper into the net. On the night, Skublak had four shots with three on frame, and the lone goal for the Bulls.
 
Skublak (Hamilton, Canada) boosted the Bulls (1-4-0) after Friday's victory against Ohio State with a game-winning goal.In the 32nd minute, Skublak rose up to head in a beautiful right-to-left cross from teammate Jonathan Rosales (Kissimmee, Fla.) and found the back of the net for his second goal on the season. 
 
The Bulls will be back in action tonight at 7 p.m. at Corbett Stadium against in-state foe Florida Atlantic. The senior striker has started in all five games, however Skublak is expected to sit out tonight's game due to an ejection Ohio State.

The Bulls concluded the 2017 regular season with a 6-6-4 overall record and finished fifth in the American Athletic Conference with a 3-2-2 mark. Head Coach Bob Butehorn leads the Bulls in his second season at the helm in 2018. Senior goalkeeper Christian Knight was selected as the American Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, while sophomore Adrian Bilhardt was added to the preseason all-conference team.
