Devenish-Meares Named AAC Keeper of the Week
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 3, 2018–USF's
Harrison Devenish-Meares, junior goalkeeper on the men's soccer team, was named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Devenish-Meares (Sydney, Australia) boosted the Bulls (0-3-0) in two contests last week, first recording a career-high six saves against then-ranked Michigan on Monday night in 90 minutes in Ann Arbor. He continued his stellar showing on Friday night when the Bulls faced Virginia Tech (receiving votes) at home, and he racked up nine saves, setting a new career high for the second time in one week.
Devenish-Meares has played all 270 minutes at goalkeeper for the Bulls this season. USF men's soccer is deep at the goalkeeper position, with senior
Christian Knight (Odessa, Fla.) selected as the American Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, and two freshmen,
Kazuna Takase (Tomoto, Japan) and
Berk Watson (Roswell, Ga.) also on the roster. Knight is currently sidelined with an injury.
Devenish-Meares and the Bulls will be in action tonight at 7 p.m. against No. 20 Creighton at Corbett Stadium.
