Bulls Feature Strong Showing at Gamecock Inaugural
COLUMBIA, S.C., JAN. 19, 2019 – Five marks ranked in the top-10 in school history, one individual title and one team victory highlighted competition for the USF Track and Field Team over the weekend at the Gamecock Inaugural hosted by the University of South Carolina.
Randall Ceneus (Birmingham, Ala.) recorded the third-fastest indoor time in school history in the 400 meters when he posted a time of 47.56 on his way to a fourth-place finish. Taquon Terry (Alachua, Fla.) found his way into the USF record books with the eighth-best long jump in school history with a distance of 22-09.75 en route to taking second place.
Junior
Luke Lafferty (Manorville, N.Y.) placed fifth in the long jump and joined Terry in the record books by posting the fourth-longest distance at 23-04.50.
Stone Baker (New Port Richey, Fla.) make his USF debut in style with a second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 16-08.75, which is good for the sixth-highest mark in school history.
Senior
David Bell (Jacksonville) won the pole vault with a height of 17-00.75, while
Seth Musselman (St. Cloud, Fla.) took fifth with his mark of 15-03.00. Fellow senior
Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) earned a fourth-place showing in the weight throw following a distance of 53-06.00, and freshman
Hunter Hummel (Kissimmee, Fla.) took third in the event in his first career meet with a mark of 47-00.25.
Also in field events,
Kyle Marois (Sarasota, Fla.) placed fourth in the hump jump with a height of 6-02.00, while
Jimmy Enobabor (Mansfield, Texas) finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 46-11.75 and
Melvin Briley (Jacksonville) followed in sixth with a mark of 46-10.00.
Yohance Haynes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) excelled for USF in running events by placing sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.48. The USF quarter of
Danny Ferro (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.),
Derwin Moultrie (Miami),
Evan Babatz (Fort Myers, Fla.) and
Matt Neeley (St. John's Fla.) took third in the 4000 meter distance medley relay with a time of 11:15.87.
Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.), Ceneus, Terry and Lafferty turned in a fourth-place showing in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 3:18.06.
Senior
Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville, Fla.) took seventh in the 60 meters preliminaries with a time of 7.51 and would go on to place fourth with a time of 7.57. Francis also took fourth in the 200 meters with her time of 24.50.
Sophomore
Kiara Miles (Tampa) placed second in the 60-meter hurdles when she crossed the finish line in 9.17. Junior
Shenica Bazile (Naples, Fla.) raced to sixth-place finish in the 400 meters with her time of 57.72.
In field events, sophomore
Elizabeth Atkinson (Palmetto, Fla.) registered a distance of 45-03.00 in the weight throw on her way to an eighth-place showing. The Bulls featured three of the top five finishes in the high jump, led by the third-place finish of sophomore
Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.). Carmouche tied her personal best leap and secured the seventh-best mark in school history at 5-07.00. Francis Rice (Jacksonville) was fourth with a mark of 5-05.00 and
Kirby Powers (Orange Park, Fla.) followed in fifth with a distance of 5-05.00.
Freshman
Arielle Boone (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) registered a fifth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 38-00.00. In the pole vault,
Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) was second with a height of 12-07.50 and
Kristin Lubeskie (Central Valley, N.Y.) was fifth with a mark of 11-07.75.

USF returns to action Jan. 25-26 when the Bulls travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to take part in the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa.

Led by 14th-year head coach Warren Bye, the USF track and field team has produced 22 All-America selections since 2008 and at least one All-American in nine of the last 11 years. 2016 graduate Matthew O'Neal is USF's first six-time NCAA All-American.
