Wichita State (5-15, 2-6) opened set one on an 11-3 run and limited USF to a .121 hitting percentage en route to a 25-10 victory. Set two saw USF and Wichita State battle back-and-forth before the Shockers went ahead 14-11 following a service ace by Kayce Litzau. USF pulled within one point at after an attack error by the Wichita State, but three straight points from the Shockers put them ahead 19-16.

Another service error from Wichita State helped USF cut the deficit to 20-18, but the Shockers answered by scoring five of the next six points to take set two.

USF (7-15, 1-7) used a 7-0 run early in the third set that included five kills from senior Jac'cara Walker (Gainesville, Fla.) to build a 10-7 advantage. The Shockers, however, went on a 5-0 run of their own minutes later to regain the lead and build a 16-13 edge.

The Bulls went ahead 22-21 late in the match after a kill from freshman Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.), who also finished with a game-high three blocks. After Wichita State took back the lead on a kill from Brooke Smith, Walker struck for another kill thereafter to even the score at 23 apiece. The Shockers would take the next two points to claim the match.
