Bulls Travel to Gainesville for ITA Southeast Regionals
October 23, 2019 | Men's Tennis
USF continues its fall season with a trip to the ITA Southeast Regionals beginning Friday.
TAMPA, Oct. 23, 2019 – USF men's tennis heads to Gainesville, Fla., for ITA Southeast Regionals hosted by the University of Florida.
Â
Student-athletes from more than 17 universities will be playing in the tournament and competing for an automatic entry into the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships that are set for Nov. 6-10.
Â
The Southeast Regionals follow a string of successes for South Florida, with No. 97 Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) finishing second in singles at the Bedford Cup and winning a doubles title at Lafayette with Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France).
Â
Coach Ashley Fisher is hopeful the team can keep this momentum rolling. "We are excited to put it on the line again and compete with whatever we have each day," mentioned Fisher. "The guys are becoming clearer on what it means to be an unconditional competitor, and this is another opportunity to test that. We will have goals to be the most professional team as well as the most connected and look forward to seeing where those three components get us."
Â
Ivan Yatsuk (Minsk, Belarus), Tobias Sonne (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Rithvik Bollipalli (Hyderabad, India) will compete in the qualifying singles matches starting Thursday. The tournament's main draw will feature 64 singles players and 47 doubles teams. Main draw action begins Friday with the first two doubles rounds and one round of singles.
