TAMPA, Oct. 24, 2019 – The USF women's volleyball team returns home to The Corral on Friday to take on Tulane for Bulls Dig Pink, followed by a matchup against Houston on Sunday.
USF (7-15, 1-7) takes to its home court after travel ling to Tulsa and Wichita State last weekend. The Bulls fought hard during the two-game road swing but dropped both matches.
Friday's matchup against the Green Wave will mark the 38
th meeting between the programs, with the Bulls looking to improve on a 30-7 all-time record. USF will face Houston on Sunday for the 31
st time and the series is tied 15-15.
Lauren LaBeck (Chicago, Ill.) surpassed her 2018 season assist total of 474 after recording 38 assists during the last two matches. LaBeck improves to 506 assists on the year.
Several underclassmen posted strong numbers against the conference foes. Sophomore outside hitter
Lindsey Pliapol (Daytona Beach, Fla.) tallied 19 kills and 23 digs and freshman middle blocker
Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.) recorded 10 kills and five blocks. Sophomore defensive specialist
CC Clausen (The Woodlands, Tx.) continued to anchor the defense with 32 digs on the weekend, improving to 358 on the year.
TULANE (15-6, 5-3 American)
The Green Wave recently split decisions during the fourth week of conference play with a sweep over Cincinnati (Oct. 18), knocking the Bearcats from unbeaten status. Following the victory, Tulane dropped to East Carolina (Oct. 20).
Tulane is led offensively by junior outside hitter Lexi Douglas, who has recorded 232 kills this season. Senior libero Kaylie McHugh leads the Green Wave with 382 digs and has posted 26 service aces. Head coach Jim Barnes has led the program for four seasons and owns a 76-48 overall record.
HOUSTON (13-10, 7-1 American)
The Cougars recently defeated East Carolina at home (Oct. 18) but fell to Cincinnati (Oct. 20), ending an eight-game winning streak.
Leading Houston defensively is middle blocker Rachel Tullos. The freshman has recorded 122 blocks during the season, the most of any Division I player this year and was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 17 blocks against Cincinnati. Head coach David Rehr leads Houston during his debut season with the program.

USF returns four starters, including its libero, while welcoming 9 newcomers to the fray in 2019 in the form of two transfers and seven freshmen.
