VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., OCT. 5, 2019Erika Smith put herself in a position for a top-25 finish during the second round of the Princess Anne Invitational.

34782USF's impressive freshman from Orlando went even par on the back nine on the way to carding a 71 Saturday at Princess Anne Country Club (par 70, 5,824 yards). Seeking her first top-25 finish as a Bull, Smith is currently tied for 17th place at 3-over and she's just four shots from the top 10.

USF moved up to the top half of the 15-team leaderboard early in the second round before finishing the day in 11th place, one spot better than Friday. The Bull are three shots outside the top 10 with 18 more holes to play Sunday.

Senior Sadie Dewinton-Davies (Newtown, Wales) and Jessica Whitting (Perth, Australia) each carded a 75 during the second round. At 7-over, Dewinton-Davies is three shots away from the top 25.

Veteran head coach Erika Brennan completed her first full season with USF in 2018-19 and helped the Bulls become the second-fastest rising program in the country as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings. The Bulls opened the 2018 fall season with a runner-up finish at the USA Intercollegiate and also placed second at the FIU Pat Bradley Invitational to wrap up their four-tournament run before the spring. In the spring opener, USF captured the program's first tournament team title since April 11, 2017 with a two-shot victory at the Florida Challenge. USF finished up the regular season with a 22-shot win at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate on April 2. Freshman Ramya Meenakshisundaram became the first Bull to earn all-conference honors since 2016.
