USF Wins 14 Titles at Bulls Invitational

TAMPA, MARCH 23, 2019 – The USF track and field team captured 14 individual titles over the weekend to highlight competition at the Bulls Invitational from the USF Track and Field Stadium.

Sophomore Kiara Miles (Tampa) won three events in the heptathlon and recorded 4,265 points to defeat her closest competition by 369 points. Miles won the 100-meter hurdles (14.47), the shot put (38-02.25) and the javelin throw (95-00.00) on her way to victory.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Shenica Bazile (Naples, Fla.), Chelsea Francis (Jacksonville), Jada Massie (Bradenton, Fla.) and Destiny Fairley (Jarrell, Texas) raced to the title after crossing the line in 46.31 seconds.

In field events, sophomore Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.) turned in the fourth-highest outdoor mark in school history in the high jump with a height of 5-08.75 on her way to claiming the individual title. Freshman Arielle Boone (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) won the crown in the triple jump after posting a distance of 38-08.25.

Senior Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) placed first in the pole vault with a height of 12-07.50, while fellow senior Ashley Wilson (Tampa) had a distance of 169-03.00 in the hammer throw to take first place.

On the men's side, junior Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.) won the 100 meters with a time of 10.64 seconds, and junior Yohance Haynes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) crossed the finish line first in the 800 meters after posting a time of 1:51.50. Nock continued his success in the final event of the day as part of the 4x400 meter relay team that recorded the fifth-fastest outdoor time in school history at 3:12.43. Sophomore Randall Ceneus (Birmingham, Ala.), junior Luke Lafferty (Manorville, N.Y.) and junior Taquon Terry (Alachua, Fla.) made up the final three legs. Terry also posted the ninth-best outdoor long jump in school history with a distance of 23-09.50 on his way to a third-place finish.

Field events featured two individual titles, beginning with senior David Bell (Jacksonville) winning the pole vault with a height of 16-06.75. Freshman Stone Baker (New Port Richey, Fla.) followed in second place and registered the ninth-best outdoor mark in school history with a height of 16-06.75.

Senior Bruce Robinson (Little Falls, N.Y.) won the hammer throw with a distance of 170-10.00.

USF returns to action March 27-30 when the Bulls travel to Austin, Texas, to take part in the Texas Relays.
