USF'S SEASON OPENER AT NO. 1 MARYLAND MOVED UP TO AUG. 29

TAMPA (AUG. 15, 2019) – The USF men's soccer team's season opener against preseason No. 1-ranked, and defending national champion, Maryland, has been moved to Thursday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. from its original date of Friday, Aug. 30. The two sides will meet at Ludwig Field in College Park.

The Bulls, who finished third in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) with a 4-1-2 record, and 7-8-2 ledger overall in 2018, return 19 players from last year's roster, including Second Team All-AAC selection Avionne Flanagan (Baltimore, Md.) and All-Rookie honoree Henrique Gallina (Atibaia, Brazil), both defensemen. USF also welcomes back its fourth-leading scorer, midfielder Stephen Rudderham (St. Petersburg, Fla.) who tallied seven points on three goals and an assist.

The Terrapins posted a 13-6-4 overall record, and a 4-4 mark in the Big Ten Conference, en route to their fourth national title, with a 1-0 win over Akron.

The Bulls will play three home exhibition matches, against Eastern Florida State College (Aug. 17), Eckerd (Aug. 21), and then Tampa (Aug. 24) in the 41st annual Rowdies Cup, which will benefit the Children's Cancer Center of Tampa. All three matches will be played at Corbett Stadium and begin at 7 p.m.

USF's home opener is slated for Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m., when the Bulls welcome Big East foe Marquette to Corbett Stadium.
