Bulls Down Stetson in Straight Sets at USF Invitational

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 21, 2019 – Jac'cara Walker (Gainesville, Fla.) turned in her second double-double of the day and the USF volleyball team defeated Stetson 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-19) Saturday evening in the second game of the USF Invitational.
Match II: USF 3, Stetson 0
Walker finished with 11 kills and 12 digs on her way to being named to the all-tournament team. Lauren LaBeck (Chicago) added a game-high 34 assists and joined Walker on the all-tournament team. CC Clausen (The Woodlands, Texas) tallied 19 digs and freshman Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.) registered five blocks to help USF hold a 14-4 edge in blocks.
USF outscored Stetson 6-2 to build a 22-15 lead in the first set following a kill from Walker and would go on to take the opening set by six points. The Bulls used a 7-0 run in the second set to turn a two-point lead into a nine-point advantage. Jac St. Cin (St. Petersburg, Fla.) clinched the victory with a kill on set point.
Stetson took a 10-9 lead in the third set on a kill by Evan Deisa, but USF responded by scoring the next six points to open up a 15-10 lead. The Hatters managed to crawl back to within two points, but USF scored eight of the next 10 points en route to a six-point win.

Match I: Indiana 3, USF 1
Walker finished with a team-high 16 kills, 15 digs and a .424 hitting percentage, but Indiana rallied to take the final two sets to defeat USF 3-1 on Saturday in the first game of the USF Invitational.
USF used a 7-1 run in the first set to pull within two points, 17-19, after a block from Peyton Thompson (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Nicole Legg (Union, Ky.). Indiana, however, scored the next three points and held off USF to claim the win.
The Bulls broke an 11-11 tie in the second set by scoring five consecutive points to take a 16-11 lead. Indiana closed within three points later in the set, but USF closed on a 6-2 run to take the set.
The fourth set saw USF fight back to trail by three points after a kill by LaBeck cut the Indiana advantage to 21-18. All-Tournament selection Deyshia Lofton answered for the Hoosiers with a kill and Indiana went on to win by four.
