USF’s Corrick Selected as The American Pitcher of the Week

TAMPA, FLA. March 2, 2020 – Junior pitcher Georgina Corrick was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Monday. Corrick threw two complete-game shutouts in the USF Tournament, helping the team post a 4-1 record over the weekend.
 
The Sanford, Fla., native began her weekend with a shutout effort against Rutgers. The junior allowed just six hits while throwing over 100 pitches in the outing, helping USF to a 2-0 win. In her other start over the weekend, Corrick threw another seven innings while only allowing two hits in a 1-0 win over Syracuse.
 
In total, she struck out 22 batters while only allowing three walks over the two starts. So far this season, she leads the AAC with 83 strikeouts and three shutouts.
 
South Florida is back in action at USF Softball Stadium on Wednesday for a midweek matchup against Detroit Mercy at 6 p.m.. Starting on Friday, the team takes part in another tournament at USF, facing off against Iowa State, UMass and Wisconsin.
