TULSA, Okla. (October 1, 2021) – The University of South Florida Bulls (6-8, 0-3 AAC) opened their weekend road trip with a 3-1 loss at Tulsa (7-5, 2-1 AAC) on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Hurricane claimed the match by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15.
Marta Cvitkovic led the USF offense with 11 kills while Amanda DeWitt and Tizi Puljiz floored seven apiece.
Ragan Kindard had a team-high three blocks, but the Bulls lost a battle of the blockers at the net, 11-7. The home team also had a 9-6 edge in service aces. Â
The Bulls raced out to an 8-1 advantage in their set three win as Jac St. Cin floored a pair of early kills to set the pace for USF. The Bulls also withstood a late rally by Tulsa in the third set, and answered back after the home team took a 22-21 lead to win the game and extend the match to a fourth set.
Alexis Williams dropped the winning ace on the Golden Hurricane in the third set.
Cvitkovic recorded a double-double on the day with 11 digs to go along with her 11 kills. CC Clausen led USF with 13 digs in the back row and Williams recorded 12 digs. Eke Denessen dished out 19 assists and recorded 10 digs.Â
