USF sets scoring record in round two, places sixth at Evie Odom Invitational
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (October 5, 2021) – The University of South Florida women's golf team posted a record-setting round on Monday on its way to a sixth-place finish at the Evie Odom Invitational after three rounds on Tuesday.

In round two on Monday, the Bulls carded an 18-hole score of 279, setting a new program record for a round for the second time already this season.

South Florida concluded the three-day event with a total score of 854 (+14). UCF won the 13-team tournament with a final tally of 841 (+1).

USF's 43 total birdies over 54 holes ranked second among all teams in the field.

Senior
Morgan Baxendale (Windermere) led the Bulls with a three-round score of 207 (-3) to place seventh individually. Her final score along with her round two tally of 67 (-3) each stand as new season lows. Baxendale carded 10 birdies over the course of three days.

Melanie Green (Medina, N.Y.) had a team-best 11 birdies and led all players in the field on par-3 scoring (-3). The sophomore shot even par (70) in each of the final two rounds to finish with a three-day score of 212 (+2) to tie for 11th place overall.

Ana Maria Barriga (Neiva, Colombia) tied for 31st with a 54-hole total of 219 – setting a new career low. Her round of 72 on Sunday matched a season low.
Leonor Medeiros (Palmela, Portugal) shot a collegiate-best 69 (-1) in the Bulls' record-setting round Monday and finished with a total of 220 to tie for 37th overall.

Ashley Zagers (Oldsmar) rounded out the scoring for USF with a three-round total of 221 to tie for 42nd individually.

The Bulls are in their fourth season under head coach Erika Brennan in 2021-22. USF is among the fastest rising program in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan's first season. The Bulls won two tournaments in 2018-19 and set several program records, including season scoring average (293.43) and team rounds of par or better (6), and in
2019-20 the Bulls posted a wire-to-wire win at the Old Friends Invitational, marking the program's third tournament title since spring 2019. USF opened its abbreviated 2020-21 campaign by breaking the program team record for low 54-hole team score (861).
