USF Earns 16th NCAA Tournament Appearance, Set to Play in Gainesville Regional

May 16, 2021 – The University of South Florida softball team is heading to its seventh NCAA tournament appearance in the last 10 seasons. The Bulls were selected as the fourth seed in the Gainesville regional, the NCAA announced on Sunday. Regional play will be played from May 21-23 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

Ken Eriksen said. "To be able to play up the road from Tampa and give our fans the opportunity to cheer us on is a great opportunity."
USF (29-17) travels to Gainesville to take part in a four-team double-elimination regional tournament that also features regional one-seed and national four-seed Florida, regional two-seed Baylor and regional three-seed South Alabama. The Bulls battle Florida to begin play in the regional on May 21 at 2 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Bulls finished as runner-up in American Athletic Conference regular season play, posting a 16-7 record against league opponents. USF was eliminated in the conference tournament semifinals by eventual-runner-up UCF.
The winner of the regional will advance to a best-of-three Super Regional series which will run from May 27 through May 30. Each of the eight Super Regional winners move on to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla. starting June 3.
The Bulls have advanced to Super Regional play twice (2006 and 2012) and the Women's College World Series once (2012).
