Eriksen Adds Two Transfers to 2022 Softball Roster

TAMPA, FLA. Sept. 13, 2021 – University of South Florida head coach Ken Eriksen announced the addition of two transfer student-athletes for the 2022 season, the program released Thursday. Antoinette Hill, a redshirt freshman pitcher from Purdue, and Erin Poepping, a senior pitcher from East Carolina, are the latest additions to the Bulls' pitching staff for the upcoming season.

Antoinette Hill | Redshirt-Freshman | RHP | Braidwood, Ill. | Purdue | Reed Custer HSHill
Hill arrives at USF after a season at Purdue. She made one appearance in the 2020 season, pitching a perfect inning against Akron.

"Antoinette has shown me that she has a limitless ceiling from where she is right now," Eriksen said. "She has a strong physical presence in the circle with an athletic approach. I am excited to see how she continues to develop. She also still has four years of eligibility."

At Reed Custer, Hill was a force on both sides of the ball. In her junior and senior seasons, she tallied a 2.15 ERA in 182 innings in the circle, striking out 190 batters while only ceding 40 walks. In the batter's box, she hit .319 in 94 at-bats, tallying 23 RBIs.

Erin Poepping | Senior | RHP | Lino Lakes, Minn. | East Carolina | Totino-Grace HSPoepping
Poepping joins the Bulls after four years at East Carolina. In 502 innings in the circle, Poepping tossed a 3.33 ERA with a 35-48 record and four saves. After a 13-16 campaign with a 3.26 ERA in her freshman season, she was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team.

"We were very fortunate to have Erin consider USF for her 5th year of eligibility," Eriksen said. "She is a quality competitor and student-athlete. I loved her tenacity in big games when I watched her for the last four years. Erin gives us experience right away and will help us in our depth in the starting pitching rotation."

In her career, she's accumulated 31 complete game efforts along with five shutouts. Poepping currently ranks 10th on The American's all-time wins list and 10th on the all-time strikeouts list with 372 in her career.
