TAMPA (September 2, 2021) – The University of South Florida volleyball team (1-2) opens the home portion of its 2021 schedule against the University of Miami (3-0) on Friday night. The matchup is slated for 6 p.m. inside The Corral on the campus of USF.
The Bulls 2021 campaign began last weekend at the FGCU Invitational where USF notched its first win of the season against UMBC in five sets. The Bulls dropped their contests to Rutgers and tournament host FGUC in three sets each.
Head coach Jolene Shepardson (USF alum/2nd season) returns 11 players from a young 2020 roster which posted a 6-8 (3-5 AAC) record for the season, which was played during the spring of 2021.
Headlining the group of still youthful returners is outside hitter Marta Cvitkovic (Rijeka, Croatia) who was named to the All-AAC First Team in 2020 and a unanimous selection to the 2021 Preseason All-Conference Team. At the net, Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.) also returns while libero CC Clausen (The Woodlands, Texas) and Alexis Williams (St. Louis, Mo.) anchor the back row defense.
Last weekend, true freshman Amiree Hendricks-Walker (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Tizi Puljiz (Resistencia, Argentina) both made immediate impacts both offensively and defensively. Bucknell transfer Kelsey O'Loughlin guided the offense from the setter position while returner Masha Idjilov (Chisinau, Moldova) was sidelined with an early-season injury.

The Bulls complete this home-and-home series against the Hurricanes on Sunday in Coral Gables at 1 p.m. USF will then wrap up its non-conference slate with tournaments at Jacksonville University on September 10-11 and Stetson on September 17-18.
