Softball’s Corrick Named to 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List
TAMPA, FLA. Jan. 26, 2022 – University of South Florida senior pitcher Georgina Corrick was named to the 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List, the organization announced on Wednesday. This is her third straight year on the preseason list.
The Top 25 Finalists for the 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced on April 20. While an athlete does not have to be on the Top 50 "Watch List" to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The Top 10 Finalists will be announced on May 4 and the Top 3 announced on May 18. The 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed prior to the start of the NCAA Women's College World Series.
Corrick is one of two student-athletes from American Athletic Conference to earn a spot on the watch list, joining Wichita State's Sydney McKinney.
Corrick, a two-time All-American, continued a dominant career in 2021. Finishing with a 24-9 record and a 0.98 ERA, the Sanford, Fla., native was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive season for her efforts in the circle.
The Great Britain National Team member was the 2021 NCAA statistical champion with 15 shutouts. Corrick tossed 333 strikeouts, which finished second on USF's single-season list, falling only three short of the program record of 336 set by Sara Nevins in 2012. In conference play, she tossed 129 strikeouts and limited opposing hitters to a .110 batting average, setting new conference bests in both catergories. Her 0.41 ERA against conference opponents was second on the league's single-season list.
Corrick tossed four no-hitters during the 2021 season, including the program's first back-to-back no-hit bids against ECU on April 30 and May 1 as well as the team's first postseason no-hitter against Baylor in the NCAA tournament.
