USF Cross Country Hosts First Home Meet Since 2019

Tampa, Fla., October 13, 2022 – The University of South Florida cross country men and women's teams will host their first USF Invitational since 2019. This will also be the last race before the championship season begins. For more information, please visit gousfbulls.com.

There are 21 collegiate teams competing in the women's 5K event, which begins at 5:00 p.m. and an additional 19 men's collegiate teams are entered for the 8K race at 5:50 p.m.

"We look forward to hosting a quality meet this Friday at the Claw," said head coach Erik Jenkins. "This home competition is a welcomed one that will precede the AAC Cross Country Championship in two weeks. Our teams have another good opportunity to prepare for the AAC championship in a familiar environment with the support of family, friends, and fans.

Chloe Byrd (Seoul, South Korea), Lindsay Gonzales (Jacksonville, Fla.), Sydney Granack (Bradenton, Fla.), Marissa Hagenbarth (Valrico, Fla.), Grace Johnson (Naples, Fla.) Cora Kolodge (Fair Haven, Mich.), Kelly Lynch (Wilmington, Del.), Alyssa Wyatt (Jacksonville, Fla.), Carolyn Brown (Orlando, Fla.), Hailey Cohen (Robbinsville, N.J.), Aleecia Collins (Punta Gorda, Fla.), Gina Fuca (Stuart, Fla.), Amanda Medina-Torres (Lake Worth, Fla.), Ashley Silva (Delray Beach, Fla.), Mira Stimac (Port Washington, Wis.), and Victoria Valdez (Port Orange, Fla.) will all be wearing the Green and Gold for the women's team.

Meanwhile, Jesse Benavides (Jacksonville, Fla.), Sebastian Edwards (Celebration, Fla.), Tyler Engleman (Severna Park, Md.), Ben Kailes (Jacksonville, Fla.), Nickolas Kamen (Naples, Fla.), Cason Meyer (Lutz, Fla.), Tyler Wadsworth (Port Charlotte, Fla.), and Julian Yescas (Miami, Fla.) will all be representing the USF' men's cross-country team on Friday.

Following the USF Invitational on Friday, the Bulls begin the American Athletic Conference in Tulsa, Okla. scheduled for Oct. 28.

About USF Cross Country
The USF Cross Country team has earned 2 All-America selections, Christina Benton in 2002 and Gray Mavhera in 1994. The Bulls have advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships seven times in program history, three times for the men and four times for the women. The USF men's team have won seven team conference championships and the women have won five team championships. Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2019and during his tenure the Bulls posted twelve program records and 106 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium, as well as the 2022 AAC Country Cross Country Championship at Holloway Park.
