Bulls hit the road for the first War on I-4 of the season

TAMPA (October 19, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls (7-11, 1-5 AAC) hit the road to play against UCF and Cincinnati this week. Wednesday's contest in Orlando will be the first of two War on I-4 matches of 2022 season.

The Bulls will play UCF (15-1, 7-1 AAC) in Orlando on Wednesday night and wrap up the road trip against Cincinnati (5-13, 3-5 AAC) in Ohio on Sunday afternoon.

South Florida's last matches were on Oct. 14 (ECU) and Oct. 16 (Temple) at The Corral. The Bulls split both matches after battling into the fifth set in both games.

Junior Marta Cvitkovic (Rijeka, Croatia) now leads the USF offense this season with 188 kills (2.72 kills/set), followed by Maria Clara Andrade (São Paulo, Brazil) (155/2.67), Tizi Puljiz (Resistencia, Argentina) (144/2.22), and Ally Barnhart (Lenexa, Kan.) (121/1.66).

Cvitkovic's ranks first overall in the American with 89 service aces and an average of .36/set.

Kelsey O'Loughlin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) has dished out 6.29 assists per set followed by freshman Tatiana Johnson (Frederick, Md.) with 4.08/set.

CC Clausen (The Woodlands, Texas) leads the back row with 248 digs (3.44/set). O'Loughlin has also totaled 136 total digs this season to register two double-doubles.

At the net, Amiree Hendricks-Walker (Los Angeles, Ca.) leads the Bulls with 64 total blocks, followed by Barnhart with 57 and Puljiz with 43 blocks.

South Florida collectively ranks fourth in the American with 1.52 service aces/set. Five different Bulls have at least 14 aces on the season, led by Clausen's 21 service aces.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her third season at the helm of her alma mater in 2022. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls' program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC. USF Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972 and is entering its 50th campaign in 2021-22. The Bulls play in The Corral (1,000), adjacent to the Yuengling Center on the USF campus.
