Bulls Send Seniors out With Shutout Win Over Temple

USF stretches their win streak to five

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 20, 2022 The University of South Florida women's soccer team shutout the Temple Owls, 2-0, on Thursday night in Corbett Stadium. With the win, the Bulls have locked in a top three finish the American Conference.

South Florida's offense came out on fire, outshooting the Owls 7-0 through the first 20 minutes. Midfielder Rosalia Muino Gonzalez (Coruna, Spain) led with two shots. Serita Thurton (Ajax, Ontario, Canada) got the Bulls on the board first with a goal assisted by Chiara Hahn (Lauterbach, Germany).

South Florida's defense held Temple to two shots in the first half, none were on goal.

The Bulls kept the momentum going into the second half. Vivianne Bessette (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) found Gonzalez across the box for South Florida's second goal of the game in the 57th minute.

Thurton had multiple opportunities for a second goal, the closest was off her head and narrowly missed the goal. With under 10 minutes to go in the match, senior Julianne Hutchison went one-on-one with a Temple defender. She found her way around and shot the ball but the Owl's goalkeeper dove for the save.
