Bulls hit the road for AAC matches

USF Volleyball travels to Tulane and Houston this weekend.

TAMPA (October 6, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls (6-8, 0-2 AAC) hit the road to play their third and fourth conferences matches of the 2022 season after having two home matches postponed last weekend due to Hurricane Ian.

The Bulls will play Tulane (5-10, 0-4 AAC)) in New Orleans, La. on Friday night and wrap up the road trip against Houston (13-2, 4-0 AAC) in Texas on Sunday afternoon.

South Florida's last matches were on Sept. 23 (SMU) and Sept. 25 (Memphis) on opening weekend of AAC play. The Bulls suffered losses in each of those matches, including a five-set loss at Memphis.

Freshman Maria Clara Andrade continues to lead the USF offense this season with 144 kills (2.82 kills/set), followed by Marta Cvitkovic (138/2.60), Tizi Puljiz (128/2.33), and Amanda DeWitt (97/1.94).

Ally Barnhart's .303 hitting percentage ranks ninth overall in the American.

Kelsey O'Loughlin has dished out 5.627 assists per set followed by freshman Tatiana Johnson with 4.08/set.

CC Clausen (The Woodlands, Texas) leads the back row with 216 digs (3.93/set). Andrade has also totaled 121 total digs this season to register five double-doubles.

At the net, Amiree Hendricks-Walker leads the Bulls with 56 total blocks, followed by Barnhart with 42 and Puljiz with 34 blocks. Hendricks-Walker ranks eighth in the league with 1.02 blocks/set.

South Florida collectively leads the American with 1.73 service aces/set. Five different Bulls have at least 14 aces on the season, led by Clausen's 18 service aces.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her third season at the helm of her alma mater in 2022. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls' program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC. USF Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972 and is entering its 50th campaign in 2021-22. The Bulls play in The Corral (1,000), adjacent to the Yuengling Center on the USF campus.
