TAMPA (Feb. 12, 2022) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team faced its second top 15 opponent of the season, falling to No. 12 Texas A&M, 4-3, at USF's Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday. The Bulls fall to 2-4 on the year while the Aggies improve to 5-0.

The Bulls got off to a fast start against the Aggies taking two of the three matches and the doubles point.

Sergio Gomez Montesa and
Alvin Tudorica gave South Florida the advantage, taking court one, 6-4, however, Texas A&M returned the favor on court two, handing
Chase Ferguson and
Antonio Muniz a 7-5 loss.

The doubles point came down to a nail-biting matchup on court one as
Rithvik Bollipalli and
Bruno Oliveira toughed out a 7-6 (9-7) result to put the Bulls up 1-0 on Texas A&M.

The Aggies evened the match up at one apiece, defeating
Alvin Tudorica on court six, 6-2, 6-2, and then took control, 2-1, handing
Bruno Oliveira a 6-2, 6-1 loss on court five.

Chase Ferguson looked to get the Bulls on the board on court one. After falling in the first set, 6-3, he took the second set to a tiebreaker, falling 7-6 (7-4).

Texas A&M won the match, defeating
Antonio Muniz, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) on court three.

After the Aggies secured the win, the Bulls got victories from
Ivan Yatsuk on court two (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) and court four (6-4, 6-7 {7-4}, 10-5).

The Bulls will have a weekend off to prepare for their next event, the Tempe Elite 8 Tournament in Tempe, Ariz., Feb. 25-27. South Florida then returns home to start a season-long five-match homestand, beginning on Wednesday, March 2 against South Alabama at 1:30 p.m.
