TAMPA, Feb. 13, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team finished competition in its opening weekend USF-Rawlings Invitational on Friday with a 12-0 loss to Florida. The Bulls emerge from the four-game weekend with a 3-1 record, including a ranked win against No. 13 Michigan.
Florida quickly took the lead and never looked back. The Gators plated six runs in the second, followed by a single run in the fourth and five in the seventh to take the 12-0 win.Â
The Bulls had 21 different players participate in the game, including
Lydia Castro (Lithia, Fla.) who made her collegiate debut. Overall, six pitchers contributed to the efforts in the circle.

Notables
- Devyne Davis (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) recorded her first collegiate hit in the game. Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.) and Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers, Fla.) also recorded hits during the game.
- Â Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.) stole her fourth base of the year.

The Bulls begin play at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational on Friday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. against Notre Dame. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network.
