TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 25, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team split its doubleheader on the second day of the USF Tournament. The team rebounded with a 6-0 shutout win over St. John's after a tough 4-0 loss to Fairfield.

Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) tied the school record with her 109
th start in the circle in the game against St. John's. The record was originally set by
Monica Triner (1996-99) and was tied by Sara Nevins (2011-14). She also tossed her 36
th career shutout and 74
th career complete game in the win.

Both
Josie Foreman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and
Madison Epperson (Tampa, Fla.) hit their second home runs of the season in game two, while
Meghan Sheehan (Forest Hill, Md.) and
Alanah Rivera (St. Petersburg, Fla.) finished three-for-six at the plate with a double.

Game 1 – FFD 4, USF 0
Erin Poepping (Lino Lakes, Minn.) made the start for the Bulls in the first game of the day. She tossed 3.1 shutout innings, only allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one.

After Poepping was relieved in the fourth, Fairfield rallied with three straight singles to take a 2-0 lead and added another pair of runs in the fifth to earn the victory.

Game 2 – USF 6, SJU 0
South Florida quickly got out in front in game two. After
Emilee Hanlon (Dunkirk, N.Y.) reached on a walk, Rivera drove her home with a double to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead after one.

The team added another in the fourth, with Foreman hitting a solo shot to left which doubled USF's lead to 2-0.

In the sixth,
Megan Pierro (Lutz, Fla.) started the scoring by driving home
Alexis Johns (Sarasota, Fla.). Later in the inning, Epperson crushed a three-run home run to left field to cap the Bulls scoring at 6-0.

Corrick earned the shutout win, her seventh win of the season, while tying her season-high by striking out 13 in the game and only allowing three hits.

Notables
- Hallie Bryant (Trenton, Fla.) made her first collegiate start in the game against Fairfield.
- Rivera and Sheehan both have five-game hitting streaks, while Foreman and Kadlub have reached base in four-straight.
- The Bulls are 8-0 this season when out-hitting their opponent and are 4-0 when they score in the first inning.

South Florida has another doubleheader tomorrow. After a rematch against Fairfield at 2 p.m., the team battles St. John's at 4:30 p.m.
