Bulls finish play at the Valspar August Invitational
AUGUSTA, Ga. (March 13, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's golf team concluded play at its third spring event, and second this week, competing at the Valspar Augusta Invitational. The Bulls placed 16th in the strong field that included eight teams ranked inside the Golfstat Top 50 rankings.
The tournament was originally slated for 54 holes played over two days, but high winds on Monday limited play to just 18 holes and the outing was cut to just 36 holes with the final round played on Tuesday.
South Florida had a difficult round on Monday, shooting a 338, but rebounded with a 298 on Tuesday which was tied for 10th in the final round.
Coming off her first collegiate win at the Trinity Forest Invitational and American Golfer of the Week honors, Melanie Green led the Bulls once again in Augusta with her sixth top-25 finish in seven outings this season. Green carded an 80 on Monday and finished with an even-par 72 on Tuesday.
Freshman Juliana Camargo, playing as an individual at the tournament, tied for 46th overall and matched a career low with a round of 75 on Tuesday. Morgan Baxendale shot rounds of 81 and 76 to tie for 55th individually.
Leonor Medeiros totaled a two-round score of 161, Ana Maria Barriga shot 167 and Ashley Zagers posted a 168.

The Bulls have two more events remaining on their spring schedule before the conference championship beginning with the Chattanooga Classic on March 27-28 at Council Fire Golf Club in Tennessee.

The Bulls are in their fourth season under head coach Erika Brennan in 2021-22. USF is among the fastest rising program in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan's first season. The Bulls won two tournaments in 2018-19 and set several program records, including season scoring average (293.43) and team rounds of par or better (6), and in 2019-20 the Bulls posted a wire-to-wire win at the Old Friends Invitational, marking the program's third tournament title since spring 2019. USF opened its abbreviated 2020-21 campaign by breaking the program team record for low 54-hole team score (861).
