Corrick Named Wilson/NFCA National DI Pitcher of the Week

TAMPA, March 15, 2022 – University of South Florida softball pitcher Georgina Corrick was named the Wilson/NFCA National Division I Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
Corrick had another stellar week in the circle. Overall, she finished 4-0 in four apperances (three starts), tossing 23.2 innings while only allowing three hits and two walks, also adding 42 strikeouts to her totals. Opposing hitters only managed a .039 batting average against her.
 
On Wednesday, she came in as a relief pitcher, throwing 3.2 perfect innings to earn the win over Stetson, striking out nine of the 11 batters she faced. She started her weekend on Friday, tossing a one-hitter against Army, receiving the complete-game shutout win and striking out 14.
 
She continued her weekend on Saturday, tossing 8.0 shutout innings against Stony Brook, also posting 12 strikeouts while only allowing one hit. The complete game was her 80th, setting a new program record. She completed her week with a 5.0 inning performance against UMass, throwing her third one-hitter of the week while striking out nine.
 
The week added to her consecutive shutout innings streak, which now sits at 81.1 innings. She hasn't allowed an earned run in 87.1 innings in the circle, either.
 
On the year, Corrick is 17-0 with a save, 169 strikeouts, and a 0.06 ERA in 111.0 innings pitched. She's held opposing hitters to a .094 batting average and has thrown 12 complete games, nine of them shutouts.
 
Corrick is one of three pitchers in program history to receive the honor and is the only one to have the recognition more than once. Overall, she has been named Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week four times, including a pair of honors last season in back-to-back weeks.
