Tampa, Fla., March 17, 2022 – The University of South Florida track and field team continue its outdoor season, traveling to Coral Gables, Fla., for the Hurricane Invitational.

"The outdoor season is upon us and we look forward to competing in some of the most prestigious venues in the country," head coach Erik Jenkins said.

Eron Carter (Palatka, Fla.) starts the competition for South Florida in the discus at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Romaine Beckford (Portland, Jamaica) looks to continue his success from the indoor season in the high jump at 3 p.m., joined by Kendell Mosely (Niceville, Fla.) in the men's competition and Kendall McDaniel (Loganville, Ga.) for the women.

Stone Baker (New Port Richey) and Kobe Babin (Niceville, Fla.), along with Audrey Wuerffel (Jacksonville, Fla.), close out the Friday field events at 3 p.m. in the pole vault. Baker and Babin currently rank fourth and seventh, respectively, on USF's outdoor performance list. Sydney Granack (Bradenton, Fla.) will be the only Bull on the track, competing in the women's 3,000m at 5:20 p.m.

On Saturday, Beckford kicks things off for USF with competition in the javelin. Shaniya Benjamin (Tampa) leads USF's contingent in the long jump at 12 p.m. She currently holds the program record in the event and won the AAC Indoor Championship in the event earlier this year.

Loren Johnson (Orange Park, Fla.) and David Ajama (Lowell, Mass.) complete USF's participation in field events at 2:30 p.m. in the triple jump. Ajama posted a 51-8.25 mark last season, which sits at third on USF's top-10 list.

In track events, USF will look to continue its success in relay events after the women broke both the 100 and 400 relay records last year while the men broke the 400-relay record. The women's 4x100 relay runs at 1 p.m., immediately followed by the men's race. The 4x400 relays close out the day, with the women running at 3:25 p.m. and the men following after.

Arden La-Rose (Toronto, Canada) begins South Florida's competition in individual races at 1:07 p.m. in the 1,500 meters. The Bulls will race significant contingents in both the men and women's 400 and 800 meter dashes, while Chakiya Plummer (Hoover, Ala.) will run for USF in the 100 hurdles and Zayne Jack (Lutz) closes out competition by running in the 200 meters.
