Bulls Wrap up Meets in California and Gainesville
Tampa, Fla., April 16, 2022 – The University of South Florida track and field team wrapped up its final day at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Tom Jones Memorial.

"A lot of individuals stepped up this weekend," head coach
Erik Jenkins said. "Many improved their standing in the conference and in the NCAA East Preliminary. These two meets created great opportunities and we were able to capitalize on most of them."
Mt. Sac Relays
In the 4x100 relay, the South Florida women's team of
Jadaja Baxter (Sandy Spring, Ga.),
Shaniya Benjamin (Tampa, Fla.),
Hannah Connell (Bridgetown, Barbados) and
Zahria Allers-Liburd (Miami, Fla.) posted a time of 44.69 seconds in the finals, earning sixth place and improving them to third all-time at USF.

Tom Jones Memorial
In the 400-meter dash, USF had two runners move up on the program record lists.
Elijah Wright (Naples, Fla.) ran a 46.77 to move to fourth on the list, while
Joshua St. Clair (Trinidad and Tobago) ran a 47.49 to move onto the list for the first time at eighth.

In the 110-meter hurdles,
Michael Bourne III (Midlothian, Va.) posted a personal-best time of 14.32 seconds, maintaining his spot at No. 10 on USF's all-time list.

The 4x100 relay team of
Danelson Mahautiere (Roseau, Dominica),
Monte Parker (Plantation, Fla.), Wright, and St. Clair finished with a time of 40.72 to move into seventh all-time at USF.
The Bulls had another relay team move up in the school's record lists during the 4x400 relay. The team of Wright, St. Clair, Bourne III, and Parker posted a time of 3:11:27 to improve their time at the eighth spot in program history.

The Bulls are back in action next weekend in Philadelphia and Jacksonville for another round of split-squad meets.

About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 54 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.Â
