TAMPA (April 18, 2022) – Following a four-game homestand, the University of South Florida Bulls open a stretch of four straight road games on Tuesday at Florida A&M. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Tallahassee.
South Florida has dominated the all-time series with FAMU, 51-6. The Bulls tallied a four-game sweep over the Rattlers in Tampa last season and have won 20 of the last 23 meetings. USF dropped its last road matchup to the Rattlers, 5-1, in 2020, but is otherwise 11-0 on the road in Tallahassee.
FAMU is 5-8 at home this season and has lost three of its last four. USF is 4-2 over its last six midweek games and is averaging over 11 runs in those contests.
The Bulls are coming off a 9-2 win over Memphis in the finale of a three-game weekend series in Tampa.
Carmine Lane was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the second time this season on Monday. Lane leads the AAC in hits (56) RBI (44) and total bases (94). The redshirt sophomore went 4-for-5 with four RBI in Saturday's win over Memphis.
Jackson Mayo launched the seventh home run of his freshman campaign on Saturday, and ranks third on the team in that category and RBI (22).
Nick Gonzalez is batting .462 over his last five games, but missed Sunday's finale after being hit by a pitch twice on Saturday. Matt Ruiz is hitting .333 over his last five games.
The Bulls will be without the services of Drew Brutcher and Ben Rozenblum this week as both players are dealing with injuries.
South Florida ranks eighth in the country in total walks (203) and 47th in both OBP (.396) and home runs (46). On the mound, USF ranks 61st in the NCAA in walks allowed/9-inn. (3.72).
