USF Softball’s Corrick Named Top 25 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

TAMPA, April 20, 2022 – University of South Florida softball pitcher Georgina Corrick was named one of 25 finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, the organization announced on Wednesday.
 
Considered the most distinguished individual honor in Division I college softball, the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players from across the country.
 
Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) is having an incredible season for the Bulls, posting a 27-4 record with two saves and a 0.48 ERA in 204 innings pitched. She's thrown 315 strikeouts, sitting just 22 strikeouts away from posting a new USF single-season record. She's also held opponents to just a .116 batting average and thrown 24 complete games.
 
The Great Britain National Team member leads the nation in four categories that the NCAA tracks: innings pitched, shutouts, strikeouts and wins. She's also in the top five in strikeout to walk ratio (15.75, second), ERA (third), hits allowed per seven innings (2.78, third) and walks allowed per seven innings (0.69, fifth). 
 
Overall, she leads the American Athletic Conference in ERA, hits allowed per seven innings, innings pitched, shutouts, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings, wins and walks allowed per seven innings.

Additionally, this season she's thrown a perfect game, the first of her career, and a no-hitter, her eighth.
 
Her performance has already gotten her many accolades this season. She's been named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week seven times, bringing her career total to 23. She broke the record for most consecutive honors with a five-week streak to begin the season. She's also been named Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week and the D1 Pitcher of the Week once.

Corrick is one of two on the list from the American Athletic Conference, joining Wichita State's Sydney McKinney, and is also one of ten pitchers who were chosen for the top 25. Earlier this year, Corrick was selected as one of 50 to the annual watch list for the award.
 
The Top 25 Finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be narrowed to 10 Finalists – released May 4 – before the Top 3 Finalists are revealed May 18. The 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced prior to the NCAA Women's College World Series, which is slated for June 2-10 at the Softball Capital of the World®.
