TAMPA (April 28, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls return home for the first of two straight conference series in Tampa beginning with the Houston Cougars. All three game times for the weekend series have been altered due to forecast weather.

The Bulls and Cougars split their four-game series in 2021 and haven't played in Tampa since 2019 when USF won two of three. Houston hasn't won a series in Tampa since 2015. Houston is currently one game off the pace in the American standings with USF looking to make a climb this weekend.

South Florida is coming off an impressive series win at Cincinnati where the Bulls rallied in the ninth inning of the opener and had an offensive explosion in the finale. USF has four of its last five games overall entering the weekend.

The freshman quartet of Bobby Boser, Marcus Brodil, Jackson Mayo and Sonny Rao combined to go 13-for-23 with 12 RBI and 12 runs scored in the 19-5 series finale win at Cincinnati. Rao was then named to the American Honor Roll for the first time in his career on Monday.

Carmine Lane continues to lead the USF offense with a .366 batting average and is hitting .455 (20-for-44) with 11 RBI over his last 10 games. Lane leads the AAC this season in hits (63), RBI (47) and total bases (102). His 47 RBI are already a new career high all while batting out of the leadoff spot in the batting order.

The Bulls collectively rank 19th in the NCAA in walks (216), 41st in OBP (.396) and 64th in home runs (48). The pitching staff ranks 63rd in the country in walks/9-inn. (3.81) and 87th in strikeout/walk ratio (2.23).

Probable Pitching Matchups
