TAMPA, April 7, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team plays its first home games during the month of April this weekend against the Wichita State Shockers while honoring past players and the 2012 Women's College World Series team on Saturday.

Recapping the Week
The Bulls are coming off a three-game sweep of East Carolina last weekend. It was the team's 16th three-or-more game sweep since joining The American and it was the first time the team responded to getting swept in conference play with a sweep of its own.

Georgina Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) went 3-0 in the circle, allowing only one unearned run, while Dezarae Maldonado finished the weekend three-for-six at the plate with two home runs.

Dominance in the Circle
Senior pitcher Georgina Corrick continues to be lights-out for South Florida this season in the circle. She's posted a 25-3 record with a 0.42 ERA. Her 14 shutouts and 280 strikeouts both rank first in the country, while the second-place pitcher in both of those categories rank four shutouts and 93 strikeouts behind her, respectively. Her 25 wins also leads the nation, four wins more than the next pitcher in line. Her ERA is second in the country, ranking only behind a pitcher with only 30 percent of the innings Corrick has thrown.

Overall, the South Florida staff has been successful this season, leading the nation in shutouts with 20 while also holding the ninth best staff ERA (1.58) in the country and the sixth-best strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.64).

She's a runner, She's a track star
Alexis Johns leads the country with 38 stolen bases so far this season, six more than the next closest base-stealer. She's only one away from breaking the single-season record set last season by AnaMarie Bruni. While only being at USF for two seasons, she's already claimed the No. 10 spot on USF's all-time list.

Alumni Weekend
While the team continues its conference slate, many alumni from historic teams will be in attendance on Saturday, including members of the 2012 Women's College World Series team. The 2012 team will be recognized prior to the Saturday game, signifying the 10th anniversary of their historic run.
