Corrick Wins Eighth AAC Pitcher of the Week Honor of the Season

Georgina Corrick was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the eighth time this season, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Megan Pierro also earned a spot on the weekly honor roll for the second time this season.

Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) completed a sweep of Houston in the circle over the weekend, going 3-0 in three starts against the Cougars. She tossed her second perfect game of the season in the first game that was split between April 29 and 30 due to weather. She followed it up with two more complete-game shutouts in the remaining games of the series to post the sweep.

She also broke another slew of records, passing Sara Nevins for the most strikeouts in a season in USF history, Emily Watson for the most season strikeouts in AAC history, Leigh Ann Ellis for the most shutouts in a season in program history and Emily Watson again for the most wins in a season in AAC history.

The honor ties her with Watson for the most honors in a single season in AAC history at eight. There's one more week left in the season to earn an award. Her second perfect game of the 2022 campaign is also the first time a USF pitcher has tossed more than one in a season.

Pierro (Lutz, Fla.) finished the weekend with a three-for-seven record at the plate with two doubles, two RBIs and a run. She also drew a walk and stole a base.
