USF Softball’s Corrick Named NFCA National Pitcher of the Week

TAMPA, May 3, 2022 – University of South Florida senior pitcher Georgina Corrick was named the National DI Pitcher of the Week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.

Corrick, who was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the eighth time this season on Monday, finished the week 3-0, starting and winning all three games against Houston over the weekend.

The Sanford, Fla., native started on Friday, tossing 4.0 flawless innings before lightning forced the game to be suspended until Saturday morning. The break didn't faze Corrick, who pitched another 3.0 immaculate innings to complete her second perfect game of the season and the fifth in USF softball history.

Not only did Corrick complete perfection, but she also broke a pair of records during the game. On Friday, she tossed her 337th strikeout of the season, making her USF's single-season leader in the category. With the completion of the game on Saturday, she passed Leigh Ann Ellis' 15 shutouts in 2004 for the most in a single season in program history.

Roughly thirty minutes after finishing her perfect game, Corrick was right back in the circle. She tossed another complete-game shutout, only allowing two hits while striking out 11 batters to post her 30th win of the season. She also threw her 349th strikeout of the season, putting her atop the AAC's record book for the category.

On Sunday, Corrick completed the sweep of Houston with her third complete-game shutout of the weekend, with a four-strikeout performance. The win, her 31st of the season, is the most in a single year by a pitcher in the AAC in conference history.
