Bulls return home for final non-conference matches

TAMPA (September 15, 2022) – The University of South Florida Bulls (4-5) return home to The Corral for the Bulls Volleyball Invitational on September 16-17. South Florida has played its last six match on the road with tournaments at Stony Brook and UTSA, and concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule this weekend in Tampa.

The Bulls Volleyball Invitational will feature six total matches between USF, Cornell (2-4), Stetson (8-1) and South Dakota (8-1).

Prior to Friday's opening match, the Bulls will recognize senior libero CC Clausen who set a new all-time program record for digs last weekend and enters this weekend with 1,771 in her USF career, breaking the 20-year record held by South Florida Hall of Famer Michelle Collier (1998-2002).

Freshman Maria Clara Andrade continues to lead the USF offense this season with 101 kills (2.89 kills/set), followed by Tizi Puljiz (89/2.54), Marta Cvitkovic (87/2.49) and Amanda DeWitt (72/2.12).

Kelsey O'Loughlin has dished out 5.37 assists per set followed by freshman Tatiana Johnson with 4.38/set.

South Florida leads the American this season with 68 total service aces (1.94/set). Clausen has a team-best 14, followed by Puljiz, Cvitkovic and Andrade with 11 apiece.

Defensively, Clausen leads the back row with 141 digs (4.03/set). Andrade has also totaled 79 total digs this season to register four double-doubles.

At the net, Amiree Hendricks-Walker leads the Bulls with 31 total blocks, followed by Ally Barnhart with 22.  

About USF Volleyball

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her third season at the helm of her alma mater in 2022. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls' program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC. USF Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972 and is entering its 50th campaign in 2021-22. The Bulls play in The Corral (1,000), adjacent to the Yuengling Center on the USF campus.
