Faife Scores First Career Goal In USF’s 1-1 Tie At Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. October 14, 2023 – South Florida men's soccer (3-7-1, 1-3-1) and Temple (2-5-4, 1-2-2) ended the match in a tie, 1-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Temple Sports Complex in Philadelphia, Pa.
 
Nearly eight minutes into match play, Temple's Juan Zepeda scored his second goal of the season off the foot of Elias Betancourt. It was a back-and-forth battle for the remainder of the opening stanza.
 
The Bulls eventually countered, as 65 seconds after returning from the break Pedro Faife (46') scored his first goal of the season. USF attempted to seal the deal in the second half, as the team took 12-of-17 total shots throughout the back-half.
 
NOTABLE NUMBERS
  • Faife's goal against Temple was the first of his career.
  • The match at Temple marked the lowest temperature the Bulls have played in this season (50 degrees F)
  • The Bulls tied a match for the first time in 363 days, their last tie was a 3-3 draw against FIU (Oct. 16, 2022).
  • South Florida and Temple tied for the season time and the all-time series moved to 9-3-2. The first tie occurred in the first ever meeting on Oct. 12, 2013 (1-1, 2OT).

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
