Bulls Overcome Two-Goal Deficit In Win At Stetson

DELAND, Fla., October 17, 2023 – South Florida men's soccer (4-7-1, 1-3-1 AAC) overcame a two-goal deficit and defeated Stetson (5-5-4, 2-1-2 ASUN), 3-2, on Tuesday night in Deland, Fla.
Twenty-three minutes into play, the Hatters broke the ice, scoring back-to-back goals in three minutes. Lara Luis ('23) and Andrew Mata (26') both scored with Alessandro Gabbani assisting on both goals.
In the 26th minute of action, Jeffery "JT" Copper scored his first goal of the campaign. USF went into the break trailing Stetson, 2-1.
In the second frame, Marco Astorga scored his first goal of the year in the 67th minute to tie the match at 2-2. With eight minutes left in the contest, Jalen Anderson pushed the Bulls to the eventual victory by scoring his third game-winner of the year. Ajmeer Spengler collared his sixth assist of the year on Anderson's goal in the 82nd minute.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
South Florida returns to Corbett for its second to last home match of the regular season, as the Bulls will face UAB on Saturday (Oct. 21). The game will be the program's Alumni & International night. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the match can be streamed on ESPN+.

The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
